    Hoot Hoot Mini - 2.3 Inch

    This frame is a smaller version of my old 2.5" Hoot Hoot frame which is featured in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZL8wsjUD7E0

    The old hoot hoot frame used a naze afromini, but now that we've got 20x20mm and 16x16mm flight controller stacks, I've added support for those into this frame. This new frame can take 2.3" props max which seems like an odd number, but that's the size of the babyhawk props. 2" props would also work well with the correct motor on this frame. 

    The motor mounts are designed for 11XX motors. 

    The battery mount is a loom band style mount which is my preference as it's light weight and has always worked well for me. 

    The FPV camera can be attached to the front with double sided tape or hot glue - Some may thing this is not the most elegant solution, but it's always worked for me and is often more light weight than a purpose built camera mount. 

    This kit comes with 4x M3 stand offs which are used for the 4 corners, but there are also holes around the frame for 20mm M2 stand offs. I wanted to go this way to save a little weight, but unfortunately armattan doesn't stock M2 stand offs. If you're unable to source them, you may want to add a couple of extra M3 stand offs to your order and drill out the holes on the side to suit. 

    Also note that the pictures below are not my complete build - missing are the FPV system, receiver and battery lead.

    3 Inch 11XX - X Frame

    This frame is designed for 11XX sized motors and either a 20x20mm FC stack, or a 30.5x30.5mm stack. It uses the same design principals as my other X frames, but the parts are thinner to save weight. 

    The middle plates are 1mm thick. They will gain extra strength from the stack being bolted on. 

    The arms are 7mm wide and made from 3mm thick carbon. 

    The motor to motor distance on this frame is 143mm diagonal.

    16x16mm Camera Pod - 19mm width - Micro Swift etc.

    This is a camera pod designed for the Runcam Micro Swift or any camera with the same 19mm width. 

    It has 4x 2mm holes with 16mm x 16mm mounting for the tiny flight controller stacks such as the cheap as chips Super_S FC and ESC combo. 

    This kit is just the carbon plates. 2x 1mm thick side plates, and 1x 2mm thick base. You'll need to source your own 20mm long m2 stand offs and m2 bolts (3 stand offs and 6 bolts). 

    You may also want to source some really long m2 bolts like in the picture below so you can have them go through your entire stack to make it really strong.

    ZMR Micro v2

    Also note that I don't personally have my copy of this v2 frame yet. I am confident my changes will work out well but there is a small chance I could have overlooked something. I will update this page when I have built mine up.

    This frame started out as something I quickly drew up to allow me to recycle components I already had and start flying micro quads with friends. The original design allowed for a D4R-II and Afromini flight controller mounted in the back. The top plate design is very similar to the "ZMR Slim" that I made a few years ago so that's where the name has come from for this quad.

    I wasn't expecting much from the original quad, but it turned out much better than I thought. The components are well protected due to the enclosed middle section so after many crashes I am yet to break anything. The only issue with the original frame is that the tabs for the rubber band to hold the battery on were pooly designed so after a crash, the rubber band would often fly off.

    The ZMR Micro V2 addresses the battery mount issue as well as including many other small changes. The motor to motor distance is a little less decreasing the chance of clipping a gate. The motor to motor distance on v1 was 113mm, and on v2 it is 105mm.

    The middle section is also shorter, so component selection is a little more important but there is still quite a lot of room for a 2" quad making for an easy build.

    The mounting holes in the middle of the frame allow for a 20x20mm flight controller, or a 16x16mm.

    The largest prop you can fit on this frame is 2" and the motor mounts are for 11xx motors or similar.

    For mounting the FPV camera, I personally find double sided tape and a bit of hot glue to work well. There is no specific way to mount the camera within the design, so you'll have to get creative.

    There are so many potentially great power combinations for this frame, but for my indoor quad I'll be using:

    1104 6500KV motors

    1608 Ultra Light quadcopter - M3 Motor Holes

    I've designed the motor mounts to have 12mm hole spacing and 3mm holes specifically for the Brother Hobby T2 1608 3200KV motors:

    The frame is 200mm motor to motor and will fit up to 5" props. 4" props would also work well and not look out of place on this frame. 

    This frame can accept 30.5x30.5mm spaced flight controllers as well as 20x20mm by using the stand offs on the inner holes of the frame. 

    The arms are 8mm wide and 4mm thick and the center plates are 1.5mm thick, so this should be a light weight but durable frame. 

    This frame could be run as a LOS frame, or a very light weight FPV frame by using one of my camera pods:

    Runcam Split Flight Controller Stack Mount - UNTESTED PROTOTYPE

    3x 22mm long M3 stand offs. Unfortunately Armattan doesn't stock these items. I'm not actually sure where they can be bought. Personally, I have a lot of longer nylon M3 stand offs which can be cut down to length with a knife, so that's what I'd be doing. 

     

    This is a camera mount for the Runcam Split which will bolt onto a standard 30.5mm Flight Controller stack. 

    I have not tested this as I don't own a Runcam Split, but I drew it up based on the dimensions on the runcam website.

    Ultra light 5 Inch X Frame - 22XX motors

    $ 16.84

    This pure X frame for 5" props and 22xx motors is as light and simple as I could make it without compromising on strength. With just the FC stack in the middle and a bottom mounted battery it has a very slim profile.

    This frame uses the same base plates as my 1407 quadcopters and the arms are a very similar design, but these 22xx arms are 8mm wide instead of 6mm wide like on my 1407 quads. I believe the extra strengh will be a good idea when using the heavier motors and batteries.

    HEX-R5

    The HEX-R5 is a hexacopter for 5" props. The assembled frame weighs 175 grams which I believe is quite repectable given how tough it should be. 

    With the correct component selection this thing can be very fast and agile or it can also be built as an endurance multirotor. 

    There is a stand on the very top for an HD camera, then a mount below that for the FPV camera. If you use angles similar to mine in the picture, there are no props or obstructions in view for either cameras.

    It has an underslung battery and feet to allow perfect take off and landings.

    Simple Light weight Stretched 4 Inch 1407 Quad

    I was asked to make a stretched version of my ultra light 4" quad, so here it is. The weight on this one will be about 34 grams! 

    This frame is designed for use with a 30.5x30.5mm flight controller which piggy backs off the outer arm bolts.

    Due to the positioning of the arm bolts, you may want to run the battery strap front to back instead of the more standard side to side unless you have a very thin strap.

    4 Inch 1407 Simple Racer - 160mm

    $ 11.52

    This is the 4" version of my ultra light weight racing quad. It's very basic in order to save weight, the middle section is the size of a standard 30.5mm flight controller. It's motor to motor length is 160mm. The motor mounts are designed for 1306/1407 sized motors. With the correct component choice, this quad will be under 250 grams all up. 

    From experience, 1407 3600KV motors on DAL 4045 props and a 650mAh 4S battery make for a very agile combination. 

    I have not tried it yet, but this frame would also work very well as a 3" build.  An AUW under 200 grams should be very possible and make for a great flier. 

    For a 3" build, personally I'd be using 1306 3100KV motors, HQ3x3x3 props, and a 650mAh 4S battery. Some people may prefer a higher KV motor which may also require a larger battery such as an 850mAh 4S.

    1407 Ultra Light Frame - Up to 5 inch Props

    This is a super light, super simple frame designed for 5" props, but with a twist - 1306/1407/1707 motors. 

    I've seen a few people try this combo, specifically the Tornado T1 1407 3600KV motors on light 5" props.

    It seems quite a few people are modifying the twig frame to use these small motors, but I've drawn up this custom frame to do the job instead. The arms are 4mm thick and 6mm wide. The 2x middle plates are 1.5mm thick, so I'm not expecting strength to be an issue here. It's motor to motor distance is 200mm. I haven't designed a top plate for this frame in order to save weight and cost. I have had questions about how to mount the FPV camera, personally I plan to print out this mount for my frame: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1441375 

    Another great camera option for this frame would be a "tiny whoop" style camera which you could tape/glue/rubber band mount on top of the flight controller.     Adams 2017 Racer

    Hey All,

    EDIT: This kit has been updated with some holes in the top plate which allow the XT60 to be cable tied down. 

    This is my racing quad design that I plan to use for 2017. It's main features are it's low air resistance which is aided by it's 8mm wide, 5mm thick arms. It has a small main section (no room for HD camera) which is designed to hold the battery on the top of the quad. Many new race frames use a bottom mount battery, but my preference is top mounting. It has 30mm standoffs so it's not too high. There is a hole at the front of the middle plate to mount a standard HS1177 bracket. The frame weight is about 75g, but yours might be slightly different as Armattan's hardware will be a little different to what I'm using. 

    The top plate has been designed so a 1500mAh 4S battery will be well supported. There are 2 holes on the back of the top plate which can house an SMA connector for your VTX.

    One way that weight has been saved on this frame is by using less metal hardware. The arms  have 2 bolts holding them on, both of which go into stand offs. I highly reccomend using loctite on these bolts to ensure they don't come loose!

    HEX-R - Mini Racing Hexacopter

    This is the HEX-R. It's a mini hexacopter which was inspired by the Shrediquite Gemini. It takes 4" props and is great fun to fly. It's the size of a mini quad, but it feels more locked in because of the extra props. As I'm writing this, there have been 3 of these hexacopters in existance since 2015, and none of them have ever broken. I've cartwheeled mine many times. I believe the strength comes from the rounded design where the arms join to the body.

    Hoothoot - 2.5 inch prop enclosed frame

    This is my new Hoothoot frame (yes it's a play on the "owl" frame, sorry Dmitry :P) It is designed for the new 2.5" rotorx props. 

    There are 7 x 2mm holes down the center of the frame which allow you to place the standoffs where you want depending on the equipment that you wish to use. 

    Motor to motor, the frame measures 113mm. Outside dimensions: it's 164mm wide, and 152mm long. 

    Included in this kit are the two main plates which are both 1.5mm thick carbon fibre. 

    Roughly 8 x 20mm M2 standoffs are required and 16 x M2 bolts (depending on how you want to build the frame).

    To complete this frame, you will need a similar mindset to an LKTR120 build - I wanted it to be as compact and as light as possible, so there are no standard naze mounting holes, an afromini is my choice for this frame.

    Nuby 150

    The Nuby 150 (153mm motor to motor) is a tough little quad frame designed for 3" props. The main feature of the frame is that it's designed around the HS1177 FPV camera, so you can have the same image quality as your larger quad. The base plate is 3mm which will be near impossible to break given the frames curvy design. There is a hole at the back of the top plate for an SMA conector if you want to go that way, and holes in the bottom plate for a standard flight controller, though I prefer an afromini. 

    The recomended setup is 3100KV 1306 motors HQ 3x3x3 props on 4S or something similar. There are many other great combos out there including 1407 motors which make this thing a rocket, but note that this frame will not take 1104/1105 motors due to the hole spacing. 

    4x 20mm aluminium standoffs are recommended to connect the two plates. You will also need 8x M3 bolts to use with the standoffs.

    X frame 89mm - for BR1103 M1.6 mounting

    Note that the motor mounts on this frame are smaller than the standard 1104 mounts. This frame is designed for the cheap Racerstar BR1103 motors which use M1.6 bolts.

    This frame is a pure X frame measuring 89mm motor to motor and you can use a 16x16mm FC stack or a 20x20mm. If you go with a 20x20mm stack, be careful of your ESC choice because I have seen many ESCs that have quite a big PCB that might hit the props.

    The frame is made from 2mm carbon and is very minimalist which allows for light weight builds.

    I suggest 8000kv or 10,000kv motors on this frame with push on 2" props

    112mm Pure X Frame

    This frame is made from 3mm thick carbon and is designed to mount standard 1103/1104/1105/1106 motors. You can use either a 16x16mm FC stack or a 20x20mm.

    The biggest prop you could fit on this frame is the rolling spider which is 65mm.

    The frame has tabs on the side which allows for a rubber band to hold the battery on the bottom. This is much lighter than using a strap, but it's all that's required with these small quadcopters.

    Ultra Light 5 inch v2 arms

    These are the v2 arms for my ultra light racer. they are a little bit thicker at the motor mount.
