    The next evolution of the XLR-3 series; XLR-3 Pro, is designed to be a lightweight 3" racer which uses the newest generation of lightweight micro FPV gear and 20x20mm mounting flight controller and ESC stacks. Frame with hardware weighs 32g, which is 36% lighter than the original XLR-3.     XLR-3 Pro is a high performance frame which can handle high power 3" setups with minimal drawbacks. The frame itself does compromise some durability in the pursuit of weight savings. The main plate is still 3mm carbon just like the standard XLR-3, but liberties have been taken to drastically reduce the weight. That being said, for those who are looking for a basher, I would highly recommend the standard XLR-3. But if you are looking for all out lightweight performance, XLR-3 Pro is the answer!

    As an avid racer myself, I know that most of us build backup quads in case we manage to crash one a little too hard during a race. For that reason XLR-3 Pro is available at a slightly lower price point so that you can easily build two!

    XLR-5 BETA KIT

    XLR-5 Stretch X BETA Kit

    The XLR-5 is based off the same design concept as the original XLR-4, but scaled up slightly to accomodate 5" propellers. In order to make this geometry work, several of the XLR-4 parts had to be redesigned to accomodate the 5" props while maintaining the stretch X layout. This resulted in a 220mm MTM measurement and slight angle changes on the arms compared to the XLR-4. Even though it looks very similar, and assembles in the same manner, the XLR-5 only shares a couple carbon parts with the XLR-4.

    Because this kit is still new and under development, I am offering it as a BETA kit to those who want to try it out. At this time limited specs are available, as they are subject to change.

    All the same standard gear used on XLR-4 will fit this frame, with the exception that it is designed to use 220x sized motors which are more common in the 5" class. The frame is intended to be used with a 4in1 type ESC, and the arms are designed to be thin so as to limit thrust column obstruction since the ESCs are not intended to be arm mounted. I have included 2 spare arms in this kit, and just like XLR-4 I expect this to be the weak spot due to minimalist design approach.

    XLR-4 Super Light 4inch Racer BETA

    XLR-4 Super Light Stretch X Racer

    XLR-4 Super Light (XLR-4SL) is a 4" stretch X racing frame. If you have been following the design of the XLR series, starting with the original XLR-4, you may be aware that lightness was always a goal for the design. While the original XLR-4 was designed to use 1806 sized motors and also incorporated replaceable arms, XLR-4SL follows the same approach as the it's smaller 3" brother, the XLR-3. In fact the XLR-4SL is merely an XLR-3 with a larger footprint baseplate to allow for the use of 4" props. All other parts at his point are shared with XLR-3. This setup allows you to use powerful 1407 size motors to create an even lighter XLR-4 setup! In fact the XLR-4SL frame is only ~4g heavier than the XLR-3, and 10g lighter than the original XLR-4. Combined with lighter motors, this setup should really rip.

    BETA Test Group Limited Opportunity:

    In an effort to offer new designs quicker, I am trying out this new BETA process. BETA designs are ones which I feel are mature enough for sale and should meet most of my standards, but may eventually have minor tweaks to the final version. In this case since XLR-4SL is based mostly on XLR-3 which has been tested pretty well, and I feel this design should work and perform well. That being said BETA kits are offered at a slightly lower price point to allow for those early adopters who don't mind making their own tweaks if necessary and providing feedback on their experience. BETA kit ordering will only be available for a short time, and will close once I feel a design is sufficiently tested and any changes that need to be made are incorporated (which should hopefully be minimal).

    SCX-HD BETA Prototype V2

    This kit is intended for early adopters, who want to try out the SCX-HD Prototype V2.

    SCX-HD is a ~220mm stretch X design specifically configured for the Connex ProSight system. This is not an analog quad which has been tweaked to fit an HD system, it was designed from the ground up around the ProSight system, and as such all mounting provisions will not work with analog video equipment. The top plate has specific mounting points for the ProSight, VTX, and the camera mounts are designed specifically for the ProSight HD camera. Lastly the mid plate has mounting provisions for the stock ProSight antenna system, but there is also optional downloadable 3D files for printing your own mounts out of TPU.

    Second Generation Prototype:

    This prototype was developed off the original SCX-HD prototype which has been in test for over a month now. This particular design is an evolution of the original prototype but it is still a prototype, and further changes may occur (although not expected to be anything drastic). Because of the high demand for Connex ProSight frame solutions, I am releasing this design as a BETA to those who would like to get early access to the frame at a reduced price. Once I feel Prototype V2 is well tested and meets my expectations, the BETA version will no longer be available. But fear not, my intent is to only make changes which are backwards compatible, so if you happen to break a part on the BETA version, updated and release parts should work just as well.

    The current SCX-HD Prototype V1 has proven to be very reliable, and able to take the abuse that is typical of a race frame. Prototype V2 should work similarly while providing slightly enhanced camera protection.

    Optional TPU Antenna Mounts:

    Looking for an alternative to the stock Connex ProSight "whale tail" antenna? I've posted optional 3D printed mounts to thingiverse here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2016322. These can be used in conjuction with the stock antenna panels (when removed from the "whale tail"). These mounts are intended to be printed from TPU and place the antenna panels on SCX-HD in a manner which offers them more protection without sacrificing performance. In testing we have bashed these without damaging antennas, and they have also proven to perform just as well as the stock "whale tail" antenna placement from what we can tell.

    XLR-3 3IN STRETCH X RACER

    XLR-3 Stretch X Racer

    XLR-3 is a 3" stretch X racing frame. This little frame is designed to follow in the footsteps of its bigger brother XLR-4. Although similar in appearance, XLR-3 is completely re-designed to make it a 3" platform, starting with a durable 3mm main carbon plate. XLR-3 is also designed to accomodate standard flight control boards as well as the venerable HS1177 standard CCD cam. This creates a very competitive package that performs just as well as it's bigger brothers, just like SCX-140, but with the forward flight stability stretch X designs are known for.

    How durable is it?

    No frame is completely unbreakable, but XLR-3 has no problem playing with the big boys. It can hang with the competition and take a beating. It's like that little brother that gets pushed around by his older siblings, but persistantly keeps coming back for more.

    Using readily available, common 20mm long M3 standoffs, you can easily customize the look of XLR-3 to make it standout. Below are photos of my XLR-3 prototype which I built with XNova 1407's and matching red standoffs!

    The stock kit isn't without color though: kit includes Space Cowboy's "Orion Orange" 20mm standoffs as standard issue. Color wise these pair extremely well with T-Motor F20's, which are also an excellent motor choice for this 3" racer.

    SCX-200 LOW PRO

    SCX-200 LowPro Overview:

    SCX-200 Low Pro is designed around the concept of lowering the stack height to further improve the centralization of mass. This idea began with a request from Daryoon @Hackmods who wanted to know if I could create a custom SCX configuration which used 20mm standoffs instead of 30mm so that he could test out his theory. After some discussions, this is what I came up with:

    Accomplishing this task added some new challenges to SCX design philosophy; it was beyond just a matter of reducing the height of the vertical plates. Because of the drastic reduction in height, and the already minimalist space constraints of the pod, the camera mount had to be completely redesigned. Limited space meant I could not employ the Armattan Lite style mount, but I wanted to be able to fix the camera angle while using the trusty HS1177 still. I order to do this I have come up with a new tilt lock design which you can see below (see vertical "shark fin" in center).

    The camera tilt lock is a relatively quick change piece which tabs into the frame to lock the camera angle by resting against the back of the HS1177. The kit includes two camera tilt locks, 37* and 45*. Due to the low stack height, the camera cannot be adjusted below ~35*. The tilt lock can be removed simply by removing/loosening the top plate to allow the camera and mount to be temporarily removed, then the tilt lock can be slid out of its slot and replaced with a different angle tilt lock if desired. You can even run without the tilt lock if you desire, and the mount will work like most other standard HS1177 mounts on the market.

    SCX Low Pro is for Advanced builders and pilots!

    Due to the low stack height, packaging the electronics into SCX Low Pro is a challenge. Ideally you will need to use a flight controller like a FuriousFPV Kombini or Motolabs Tempest with a built in PDB to complete this build. Space is very limited in order to create the low stack height. Furthermore, due to the minimum camera angle of 35*, SCX Low Pro is intended to be flown at higher angles of attack and fast forward speeds better suited to advanced pilot skill levels.

    XLR-4 Stretch X Racer

    XLR-4 Design Specs:

    XLR-4 is lightweight, 185mm stretched X layout, racing quad! It is designed to use most standard size FPV components and electronics, but is specifically designed for T-Motor F30 (1806 size) 2800kv motors and 4" props. The lightweight design also incorporates a minimalistic arm approach intended for use with a central mounted 4in1 ESC. The XLR-4 Prototype frame weighs a scant 65g, and can be easily built up to less than 250g without battery. My personal prototype was 240g using standard components and retaining all steel hardware. Using an 1806 power system also allows for the use of smaller capacity batteries, to create an even lighter overall setup. A typical 850-1000mAh high C rating 4S battery will be adequate for most racing situations (2-2:30min heats). When everything is combined, this creates an agile 4" racer that is roughly 350g all up with battery.

These upgraded mounts use the same rubber "dimes" which are used in the Armattan Lite SCX-200 kits, and provide much better camera angle retention and vibration isolation.     SCX-230 V2.1 Racer Kit - Beefy Edition - 6in Props

    The SCX-230 is based off the same familiar architecture used in the SCX-200 and shares all the same parts with the exception of lengthened arms to allow for 6" props. SCX-230 comes in two flavors, regular and beefy. This is the beefy version with wider width arms (17mm wide vs 14mm wide of the original SCX-200).

    This version allows for cleaner mounting of larger ESCs like the KISS 24A.

    SCX-230 V2.1 Frame Kit!
    The next refinement of the SCX frame kit makes minor improvements upon the V2 architecture to improve durability and frame fit and finish. The following parts have been revised slightly to create the V2.1 configuration:

    SCX V2.1 Base Plate: Now includes more material near camera bumper and cam slots to help distribute impact loads (fully backwards compatible with V2).
    SCX V2.1 Top Plate: Revised "dog bone" slots for better positive engagement of vertical accesory plates (backwards compatible with slight mod to V2 VTX Mounting Plate).
    SCX V2.1 Camera Plate: Revised tabbing to help improve positive engagement when combined with V2.1 Top Plate (fully backwards compatible with V2)

    SCX-140 V1.1 3IN RACER KIT

    SCX-140 V1.1 3" Racer Kit

    This SCX-140 is a 3" racing frame which combines SCX design architecture with perfect X symmetric motor placement which measures 140mm MTM (Motor To Motor). Why 140mm instead of 130mm? Well I had two requirements for this quad, it had to be a perfect X and it had to still fit the HS1177 camera, hence 140mm. Packaging is a little tighter than the SCX-200 as the pod is smaller overall but it still retains the SCX signature vtx mounting design. Frame is designed specifically for 1306/1407 3000kv+ motor setups and 3" props to make this little micro quad a powerhouse which can hit above it's weight class.

    V1.1 now includes improved top plate!

    New top plate design provides same functionality as original but increases strength and durability. Top plate thickness increased from 1.5mm to 2mm and profile changed to reduce leverage forces during a crash for improved durability.

    Kit also now includes 16 M2x5mm screws for mounting the motors!

    Below are some examples of what can be done with this tiny little quad. Although the kit includes black hardware and steel screws, with a little splash of color you can easily make SCX-140 your own. In the examples shown I chose to color coordinate my standoffs and hardware with the motor colors. SCX-140 uses 30mm M3 standoffs which can be commonly sourced in different colors from various hobby vendors.
