Adapt to Survive

Introducing the Phoenix Multirotors' first kit: the Adapt! This is a stretched-X frame designed around 5 inch props and the Runcam Mini Swift. The Adapt's concept was to create a competitive frame that's simplistic, yet retains essential features such as motor protection on the arms that other frames tend to leave out. This creates a balance of features that pilots need without any gimmicky extras or going overboard.

The motor layout was inspired by the tried-and-true ImpulseRC Alien with a geometrically superior 3:4:5 layout for increased control and smoother feel. The difference, however, is that the Adapt's arms are in a stretched orientation rather than squashed such as the Alien.

The Adapt uses a top mounted battery for the ultimate in-flight feel and uses 30mm standoffs to provide enough room for the camera and almost any 30.5 x 30.5mm stack. The top plate also incorperates a 2-in-1 VTX antenna slot. For those who prefer to not mount their SMA connector straight out of the top of the frame, a slot has been provided to help keep you antenna away from the rear props while retaining some room for movement in the event of a hard crash. For those who do mount their SMA connector straight out of the top of the frame, the slot is large enough to mount SMA connectors. If you crash, however, the slot will allow movement of the connector to reduce the chance of breakage.

Rather than messing with extra plates, the Adapt uses M3 holes to mount the metal bracket included with the Runcam Mini Swift.

The arms include motor protection in the form of 4 prong-like extrusions giving plently of bracing from any hard hits with gates or trees.

Make the Shift

Introducing Phoenix Multirotors' first micro offering: the Shift! This is a true-X frame designed to spin 3 inch props using the Runcam Micro Swift and 20 x 20mm flight controllers. The idea of the Shift is to take the tried-and-true "pod" layout and bring it to the micro scene. The camera pod is set to 40 degrees of tilt for fast forward flight with full camera protection.

The Shift uses a true-X format to keep things tight while retaining a consistent feel across pitch, roll, and yaw.

With micro components such as cameras and flight boards improving and becoming more common, the overall size of the frame was able to be shrunk down to a more compact size saving weight.

Rather than using standard M3 holes to mount the arms, the Shift incorperates a dual slot design allowing a reduction in both weight and drag while retaining strength. In the rare occurence of an arm breaking, only a single bolt needs to be removed to replace an arm to keep you off the bench and the in the air.
