This upgrade works well and keeps your motors very cool. It has always made me wonder why previous designs have never supplied a cooling path for motors. In testing some of the models, the motors are so cool, its hard to tell they have been ran.
2mm CF should also provide more than enough strength. The stock mounts in an X550 kit are very weak (fiberglass) and they will flex under load. Aluminum mounts do work, but they can bend, and also for the size and weight CF is still a better option!
